Ortodoncia Invisible

What is invisible orthodontics?

Invisible orthodontics in DentalSpa® is realized using INVISALIGN®.
Through this orthodontic technique we can straighten crowded, separated, crooked or badly fitted teeth in the adult.
Previously we will diagnose and plan the best solution for your dental problem, and before starting the invisible orthodontic treatment we will show you the result we want to achieve.

From that moment on we will make, with our clinical indications, a sequence of transparent plastic aligners (INVISALIGN®) that you will change every 7 days and that they will gradually correct your bad dental position.

What are the advantages‎  compared with traditional orthodontics?

  • Designed for you: Before creating the treatment plan, we will take an impression of your teeth to check that they can be straightened using the Invisalign system. Once this is confirmed, we will create a detailed treatment plan using ClinCheck®, our virtual 3D treatment plan. ClinCheck shows the movements expected for your teeth throughout the treatment, so you can see the final result of the treatment even before it begins.
  • Smiling at every stage: When you begin Invisalign treatment, you will wear each set of custom-made aligners for two weeks. As you change sets of aligners, your teeth will gradually move until they are in their final position, during which time we will make follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and make sure you are comfortable with your treatment.
  • Designed for your daily routine: The time needed to complete the treatment varies depending on the individual and the complexity of the dental problem. It is important that you talk to us to determine how Invisalign can best fit your situation and meet your goals, and to agree on the optimal treatment option for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

In this section we answer some of the most frequent questions that our patients have when it comes to invisible orthodontic treatment.

What are attaches and what are they for?

Attaches are some small composite pieces that stick to the tooth.

These attaches are used to make more effective the procedure, as the aligners cannot carry out the movements themselves.

That is, they need these small composite pieces to be able to exert more force and turn the teeth.

There are different types of attaches depending on their size, shape or purpose, es decir, del movimiento que se desea conseguir.

The placement of these attaches is customized, so not all patients wear the same number, or on the same teeth.

It is also very common for a person not to wear the same attachments throughout the treatment. In other words, they keep being changed according to the needs of each stage.

Once the teeth have been aligned and the treatment is complete, we'll remove all the attachments from the teeth.

What is ClinCheck?

The ClinCheck is probably the greatest differentiating factor of Invisalign compared to other orthodontic systems.

We say this because ClinCheck is a software that provides a lot predictability to the treatment.

On the one hand, it allows to recreate the movements that the teeth are going to make over time.

On the other hand, it makes it possible for the patient to see what the final result of his smile before we put the first aligner.

Can I eat and drink with Invisalign?

Unlike braces, wearing Invisalign doesn't imply restrictions with food or drink.

As far as food is concerned, Invisalign should always be removed before eating. Therefore, the patient can eat anything.

In the case of the drink, the ideal is to take just water while wearing the invisalign

Never the less, we have to take into account that, for example if we drink coffee usually, it will be better not to take constantly the Invisalign off

We make this recommendation simply because if we remove the device constantly, at the end of the day we will have worn the Invisalign less than 22 hours..

How long does a treatment with aligners last?

The answer to this question is closely related to the previous section.

That is, the duration of treatment depends primarily on the complexity of malocclusion to be treated.

As we indicated in the previous point, a slight malocclusion can be corrected in 12 months, while a severe one may require 24 months or even longer.

Does Invisalign hurt?

As detailed in one of the previous sections, the adaptation period is shorter with Invisalign than with braces.

This is because aligners are more comfortable, given that Invsalign doesn't have any metallic elements, while brackets do.

Therefore, there aren't any wires that can pinch and cause a wound or a slight abrasion.

Although Invisalign doesn't hurt, what is certain is that during the first few days can be uncomfortable.

This is due to the simple pressure that the aligners make on the teeth.

However, this discomfort goes away with the first few days, and after 4 or 5 days with Invisalign we are already completely familiar with it.
