Dental restoration then aims to restore the damaged tooth to its lost form and function through the use of specific techniques and materials. Generally, these are fillings with which any dental cavity is covered or veneers and crowns with which to repair structural faults in the tooth.
In the case of fillings, dental restoration caused by the loss of part of a tooth, due to caries or trauma, was performed until not long ago with an amalgam of metals (gold or silver). Today, however, biocompatible materials have been chosen, which give the repaired tooth a more natural appearance, are barely noticeable after application and provide a lasting solution.
